Our Story
Since 1936, Meckley’s Limestone Products, Inc. in Herndon, Pennsylvania has been a leader in the limestone processing field, and has been providing pulverized sorbent to the power industry since CFB technology was introduced in the United States in 1982. Founded by the Meckley family, Greystone was formed to function as a development arm, and has taken the lead of this very specialized core competency since its organization in 1993. Since then, projects have been developed to produce specialty mineral projects from limestone, feldspar and quartz resources.
The Colver Project
Colver Limestone Processing Facility
Functioning as designer, builder and owner/operator for on-site limestone pulverizing facilities, Greystone’s first installation was completed at the Colver Power Facility in Colver, Pennsylvania. Requirements for this project included building the pulverizing facility, negotiating the raw sorbent contract for the power project, providing operating services and managing the raw sorbent purchasing and delivery.

The project supplies electricity to the Pennsylvania Electric Company (Penelec) and has an availability greater than 98 percent, which makes it one of the most reliable producing generating plants of its kind anywhere in the world.
Selected over projects worldwide, Colver received the award for providing the most outstanding economic, social and environmental benefits to the power plant owners and their customers. This project was Greystone's first installation, and we are proud to have been recognized in this achievement.
